Business Unit Overview:

The International Cash Management Group manages a suite of products that includes Prime and Government Money Market and Ultra-Short Duration Mutual funds and Separate Accounts. BlackRock’s cash management style is designed to meet each client’s objectives of capital preservation, liquidity and yield – in that order. This philosophy is built on a risk-controlled framework, featuring careful analysis of credit, interest rate trends, and relative value opportunities which ultimately produce investment returns on a risk-adjusted basis. Our disciplined approach to investing originated in 1973 when we pioneered the first constant-dollar money market fund dedicated to institutional investors.

Job Purpose/Background/Responsibilities:

This role sits within the International Cash Portfolio Management Team and is a portfolio management / trader role based in Singapore or Hong Kong. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to help establish the Money Market fund portfolio management / trading desk in APAC for the Cash Portfolio Management Team. The successful candidate will be the lead person responsible for the international cash investment process in APAC. They will be investing and executing in money market instruments (Time Deposits, Reverse Repo, Commercial Paper, Certificates of Deposit, short Government bonds and Bills, Supranationals and any other suitable instruments), with an emphasis on HKD/ USD and other major Asian currencies. The person will also play a major role in developing and implementing money market investment strategies.  A natural curiosity and drive will help the successful candidate establish themselves within a busy and proactive team, helping research markets, regulation, credit, technology and ESG.

  • To manage and trade diversified portfolios of money market instruments in HKD/ USD and other major Asian currencies.

  • To lead the efforts to construct and implement investment strategies for Asian currency money market funds as well as separately managed accounts

  • To be the representative of International Cash Portfolio Management Team in APAC in both internal and external client meetings, industry conferences and roundtables

  • To build and maintain strong professional relationships with external trading counterparties (brokers and dealer banks) and other parts of the broader ecosystem (rating agencies, etc.)

  • To build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders such as credit, product strategy, risk, operations, pricing, legal & compliance, and contribute to our diverse and inclusive work environment

  • To work with other data and technology focused colleagues to help create greater operational efficiencies across the desk

Knowledge / Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of work experience in money market portfolio management, and transferable skills to benefit this role.

  • Established relationships with major trading counterparties and the broader money market ecosystem across APAC, particularly Hong Kong and Singapore

  • Managerial experience and help in identifying and developing strong talent preferred

  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. An enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a demanding and fast-paced environment

  • Deep understanding of financial markets, money market funds, credit, money market regulatory framework and risk management

  • Strong quantitative or analytical skills, particularly using data systems (Knowledge of Aladdin a plus)

  • Knowledge and understanding of digital assets and tokenised real world assets preferred

  • Experience with Python, SQL, Tableau, Bloomberg, VBA a plus

  • Strong presentation and written communication skills, comfortable speaking in front of clients

  • Interpersonal skills to help foster an inclusive culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing

  • Fluent in English. Cantonese/Mandarin a plus but not mandatory
