How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Portfolio Management and Pricing Analytics team sits within the Pricing function and is responsible for enterprise-wide analytics to aid portfolio steering and oversees cross-product initiatives to ensure consistency across the group.

As a Portfolio Management Analyst, you will support the Portfolio Management Actuary by delivering high‑quality analysis, exhibits, and insights that underpin enterprise‑level decision making. Your work will contribute directly to business planning, reforecasting, and portfolio reviews presented to senior management.

This role provides early exposure to strategic portfolio analytics, senior‑level decision processes, and cross‑product initiatives, making it a strong development platform for a high‑potential actuary.

What will you do in this role?

  • Support the Portfolio Management Actuary in annual business planning and quarterly reforecasting.
  • Produce and maintain standardised portfolio exhibits and performance metrics used in senior management reviews.
  • Help translate analytical results into clear insights and messages suitable for non‑technical audiences.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for ExCo, Group Board, and other senior forums, ensuring outputs are accurate and timely.
  • Assist in tracking performance against the business plan and identifying key drivers of variance.
  • Perform portfolio‑level analyses (loss ratio, premium adequacy, volume, mix, and trend) across products and regions.
  • Contribute to cross‑product pricing and portfolio initiatives, ensuring analytical consistency and best practice.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a solid understanding of core insurance metrics
  • Progress toward actuarial qualification with an accredited Actuarial Society (e.g. IFoA or equivalent)
  • Ability to organise analysis, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets

  • Ability to use R or Python for data manipulation and statistical analysis
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to challenge assumptions and ask thoughtful questions
