The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate IS Solutions, Plan & Build, the Portfolio lead is responsible for maximizing value realization throughout the entire project lifecycle by driving effective stakeholder engagement, project ideation, planning, and delivery.

We are seeking a Portfolio lead to oversee and guide the management of a diverse portfolio of information technology projects and initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic goals. This role includes managing resource allocation, prioritizing initiatives, and ensuring strong governance and successful delivery across the portfolio.

What you’ll do

  • Align the portfolio with the organization’s strategic objectives, business priorities, and competitive positioning

  • Identify and recommend strategic initiatives or investments that strengthen organizational capabilities and enhance competitive advantage

  • Manage the IS portfolio using established delivery frameworks (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Scrum)

  • Ensure timely, on-budget, and in-scope delivery of portfolio initiatives that generate business value, in collaboration with IS and business stakeholders

  • Deliver portfolio-level reporting and dashboards to communicate performance, risks, and issues to executive leadership, with regular updates via reports, presentations, and meetings

  • Proactively monitor and resolve portfolio-wide risks, issues, and dependencies, while escalating critical items to leadership to support timely and informed decision-making

  • Oversee financial management, including portfolio budget forecasting and deferral planning

  • Partner with project managers and business stakeholders to define and monitor the realization of portfolio benefits

  • Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources across the portfolio to ensure optimal support for initiatives

  • Proactively identify and resolve resource constraints, bottlenecks, and capacity challenges to enhance project delivery and overall portfolio performance

  • Manage vendor relationships, including reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs) to ensure alignment with portfolio objectives and compliance standards

  • Collaborate with functional and departmental leaders to secure the necessary skills and expertise required to successfully execute portfolio initiatives

  • Provide clear direction on task structuring, activity coordination, and prioritization to ensure efficient execution across initiatives

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and engaging workplace that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Advise the Senior Manager on performance management, employee development, and recruitment strategies to build and sustain a high-performing team

 

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management, with a demonstrated track record of success.

  • Proficient in portfolio management frameworks, methodologies, and tools (e.g., PMI-PgMP, PRINCE2, MSP, etc.).

  • PMI certification or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, with the ability to navigate complex, ambiguous situations

  • Proven experience in resource management, risk mitigation, and benefits realization

  • Familiarity with project management software and portfolio management tools

  • Continuous learning mindset and a passion for driving organizational excellence
