Your Role & Work Environment
As a Portfolio Manager Credit Risk, you will be a key player in a high‑exposure and well interconnected team, central to ING Belgium’s credit risk management framework. You will be responsible for comprehensive portfolio analysis and credit insights, to fuel proactive credit management across the organisation, ensure that we remain in control of our credit risks and processes and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
You will join a team of motivated professionals with strong expertise in credit portfolios, economics, data analysis and reporting. The team offers a dynamic, collaborative, and impact‑driven environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Analyse & Assess Credit Portfolios
- Build on portfolio performance and risks to steer lending exposures
- Highlight economic and business developments leading to credit risk evolution, enabling proactive steering of lending exposures
- Provide key insights stemming from early warning indicators and signals and guide discussions and alignment on product or sector vulnerabilities.
- Develop clear risk appetite and regularly monitor actual developments against it, to timely inform senior management on significant trends.
- Develop forward-looking perspectives to actively steer business developments within risk appetite
- Closely monitor production quality to inform credit acceptance models and policies
- Highlight key developments on production quality for portfolio as well as recent vintages to influence credit acceptance models and policies development
- Review production volumes, risk profiles, underwriting, and early performance data Timely flag shifts in origination quality that may negatively impact future risk exposure.
- Deliver an integrated credit risk overview
- Combine performance data, macroeconomic trends, sector forecasts, process KPIs, and policy compliance for comprehensive credit oversight across customer and product categories
2. Communicate Insights & Recommendations
- Present analyses, conclusions, and recommendations clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
- Provide insights that support senior management and regulatory assurance.
3. Manage Data & Analytical Tools
- Gather, prepare, and manage relevant data to support portfolio insights and decision‑making.
- Define requirements and contribute to automation and enhancement of data visualisation and analysis tools.
4. Drive Change & Collaboration
- Lead or participate in project management activities, ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
- Work closely with risk departments, front‑office teams, and policy owners to support change initiatives, process optimisation, and data/reporting enhancements.
We Look For
Required qualifications and skills:
- Master’s degree in economics, applied economics, statistics, or a related field.
- Very strong data analysis skills with excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, experience with PowerBI and Python for data visualization is considered a strong plus.
- Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive and hands‑on approach.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- High attention to detail and the drive to fully understand issues before concluding.

- Experience with Vortex data is an asset.
