Portfolio and Business Development Manager
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Strategy
- Analyze customer needs, market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build‑vs‑buy perspective
- Assess competitor offerings and identify opportunities for differentiation
- Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they are met
- Evaluate new product ideas and define go‑to‑market strategies
- Drive end‑to‑end product lifecycle activities, including market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, and product launches
- Translate portfolio and product strategy into clear and detailed requirements for internal teams
- Analyze market data to define strategies and product objectives for effective marketing communication
- Develop product positioning and messaging
Business Development & Commercial Execution
- Develop cross‑divisional hospital sales for assigned key customers and sales areas
- Share responsibility for Hospital Sales budget in collaboration with Business Unit Leads and Sales Managers
- Maximize market opportunities through commercial planning and execution
- Negotiate and support contracts with buying organizations
- Work with the Tender Manager on tenders via wholesalers
- Conduct regular business reviews with assigned buying organizations, covering sales volumes, compliance, and competitive conditions
- Support multi‑source sales strategies and omnichannel campaigns
- Develop and manage new services for key customers and sales areas
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Maintain, develop, and consolidate relationships within the National Healthcare System at area and hospital level
- Establish strong relationships with key decision‑makers and buying organizations through regular field visits
- Provide structured market intelligence and customer insights
- Collaborate with the Country Managing Director, Sales Manager, and other internal stakeholders
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Operations
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, RA, QA, and distributors
- Align internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely product availability and supply consistency
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree (Science, Commercial, Medical, or related)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Devices business in Sales and/or Marketing
- Proven experience with the distributional market model
- Knowledge or experience with Hungary and Bulgaria hospital market models is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of the hospital and institutional pharma market
- Experience working with distributors, wholesalers, and buying organizations
- Solid portfolio management and go‑to‑market capabilities
- Commercial mindset with tender and contract negotiation experience
- Ability to analyze market data, customer needs, and competitor landscapes
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Effective cross‑functional collaboration across Sales, Supply, RA/QA
- Strategic thinker with hands‑on execution focus
- Strong communication skills in English
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The minimum salary for this position is 264 000,00 RON Annual. Your initial pay could be at the minimum or higher based on skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors, all of which are subject to change. This position may also be eligible for competitive benefits, discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
