POSITION OVERVIEW:  

The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of the building’s restrooms, common areas, and surrounding property throughout the day. This role ensures that high-traffic spaces remain sanitary, fully stocked, and presentable for employees and visitors.

The Porter supports daily facility operations by monitoring restrooms and shared spaces, restocking sanitation supplies, removing trash, and addressing minor cleanliness or maintenance concerns as they arise. This position also works closely with the Building Engineer and facilities team by reporting facility issues such as lighting outages, leaks, or damaged fixtures and assisting with basic property upkeep when needed.

In addition, the Porter helps maintain the exterior appearance of the building by keeping entryways clear and performing routine property walks to remove loose debris or trash. This role serves as an important support function for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional office environment.

The role will be based in Orlando, FL and is an in-office position.

JOB SCOPE:

Restroom and Common Area Maintenance

  • Restock toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other supplies.
  • Spot clean toilets, sinks, counters, and mirrors.
  • Empty trash and monitor for odors.
  • Address immediate spills or sanitation needs.
  • Wipe down doors, glass, handles, and other high-touch surfaces.
  • Keep lobbies, hallways, stairwells (sweep only), and waiting areas clean and clutter-free.
  • Empty high-traffic trash cans throughout the day.
  • Replace liners and prevent trash overflow.
  • Break down cardboard from food deliveries in the breakroom area.
  • Dusting surfaces, removing cobwebs, wiping high-touch areas, and maintaining overall facility cleanliness.

Restocking and Inventory

  • Restock sanitation supplies upon delivery.
  • Track inventory levels and report supply needs for ordering.
  • Maintain adequate supplies on hand.
  • Maintain clear communication with Building Engineer and the night crew to ensure smooth operations and team alignment.

Facility Support

  • Monitor and report maintenance issues (e.g., lights out, leaks, broken fixtures, etc.).
  • Assist the Building Engineer when possible.
  • Serve as the eyes and ears for the Building Engineer.
  • Use a blower to clean the building entrance and surrounding areas.
  • Walk the property three times per week, or as needed, to pick up loose trash.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, porter, facilities, or building maintenance roles preferred but not required.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in restrooms, common areas, and high-traffic spaces.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to notice and address cleanliness or facility issues promptly.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with the Building Engineer and facilities team.
  • Comfortable performing routine physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying supplies throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely use basic cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Strong reliability and time management skills with the ability to complete routine tasks consistently.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and respectful presence in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed.

  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to visit company offices and/or property locations.
  • While performing duties of this job, would occasionally require to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects and tools.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.

A background check and drug/substance screening are required after a conditional offer. Employment will proceed only upon receiving clear results from both.

ThreatLocker also conducts randomized drug and substance testing approximately every 60 days, in line with the same screening standards.
