The Polyolefins trader will be responsible for the development and promotion of the trading activities for the Petrochemicals desk in the Americas, interacting with a wide variety of companies from traders, oil majors, chemical distributors and end users. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge and trading experience for a wide range of polymers and grades that will be included in the portfolio: LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all internal compliance policies and procedures and with all external factors that impact the trading business (US, Nymex, ICE and other energy trading regulations)

  • Report to Petrochemicals, LPG & Bios Americas Trading Manager

  • P&L that include local and shared books with Madrid and Singapore offices

  • Coordinate and promote Business development activities in all products

  • Participate and take the commercial lead for projects in the Americas that involves one or more polymers corresponding to the a.m. portfolio

  • Coordinate with book leaders and traders from other offices

  • Coordinate with commercial teams from other Repsol Business Units involved in the management of the commodities that fall under the responsibility of the candidate

  • Coordinate activities with support teams (contracts, demurrages, back office, risk management, middle office) making sure all processes and activities of the desk follow best practices and procedures

  • Optimize value chain for all the products

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Legally authorized to work in the US for any employer. No company sponsorships

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

  • Master’s degree in refining/chemicals will be valued

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the polymers industry, at least 5 of them in a commercial or trading role

  • Additional experience in other O&G fields will be valued (industrial plants operations, maintenance, safety, processes and plant optimization, product engineering)

  • The willingness and ability to travel

  • Experience in petrochemicals/polymers business development in America

  • Strong knowledge of US polymers regional and international flows

  • Strong knowledge of LatAm polymers regional and international flows

  • Knowledge of olefins/aromatics interactions with polyolefins

  • Knowledge of US olefins inland, well and pipe

  • Knowledge in logistics and vessels operations will be valued

  • Knowledge of refineries and chemical plants production worldwide
