Political-Military Affairs Specialist and Theater Security Cooperation Planner

The Opportunity:

Ensure the Joint Task Force (JTF) client’s success as a Senior Military Official (SMO) for the Indo-Pacific region. Support the JTF’s Commander in shaping the region by developing and implementing regional country engagement plans. Apply your subject matter expertise in political-military affairs and security cooperation to plan, implement, and synchronize joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational efforts into effective security cooperation engagements and capacity building programs.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience at a Joint Command or Staff, or service component security cooperation staff in the INDOPACOM AOR
  • 5+ years of experience in the military as a foreign area officer, civil affairs officer, or security cooperation planner, or in political-military affairs or security cooperation
  • Experience advising and briefing senior leaders at the Ambassadorial and Flag Officer level on sensitive diplomatic and military topics
  • Experience in program management with U.S. security cooperation or assistance projects undertaken by the Department of War to encourage and enable international partners to work with the U.S. to achieve strategic objectives
  • Ability to prepare executive-level written reports and talking points in preparation for key leader engagements
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience at a Military Group (MILGRP) or Joint U.S. Military Advisory Group (JUSMAG) as a Security Assistance Officer (SOA), conducting security cooperation and security assistance activities with host nation counterparts
  • 1+ years of experience as a service component desk officer or country director within the U.S. INDOPACOM AOR, and for the Compacts of Free Association (COFA) or Freely Associated States (FAS)
  • Experience utilizing the Overseas Humanitarian Assistance Shared Information System (OHASIS) for security cooperation project development, and the Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS) to review and approve unit requests to operate within the JOA
  • Experience planning and executing Distinguished Visitor Programs and ensuring that related protocol and security matters are properly addressed
  • Experience developing operational plans
  • Experience with humanitarian or disaster response plans in the INDOPACOM AOR
  • Knowledge of Time-Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD), the U.S. DoD Joint Operation Planning Process, and the Foreign Clearance Guide
  • Ability to assist in the formulation of public affairs messages, including press releases or other information provided for public dissemination
  • Ability to provide regional or cultural expertise and historical context to JTF leadership and forward-deployed commands conducting military operations in the JOA, to ensure that sensitive regional topics are properly addressed and strong relationships are maintained
  • Bachelor's degree in Area Studies, International Studies, Political Studies, National Security Studies, or International Aid and Development

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
