Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER, Position Description Number T5804900 and is part of the 190th Security Forces SQ Topeka, KS. Kansas Air National Guard.

Major Duties:

• As a POLICE OFFICER, GS-0083-08, you will perform Combat Arms Training. Present repetitive courses or designated blocks of longer courses and presents training material and instruction covering proper use of handguns, rifles, machine guns and other base defense/ground combat skills equipment, in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents. Instruction may take place in outdoor or indoor training facilities and will require multiple police/combat agility skill demonstrations. Instructor makes adjustments in presentation or other instructional methods to resolve common classroom problems, to include those of student motivation and communication, as well as, last minute agenda schedule or student changes, student problems, equipment malfunctions, or lack of supplies. Use training aids and devices in addition to those listed in the POI in a manner that enhances training outcome. Adjust subject matter discussions to assure material is assimilated by all students. Apply specialized subject matter knowledge in course instruction. Maintain accountability and ensures security for weapons/ammunition/explosives utilized in the course of instruction in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the qualifying general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience that provides the knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: DoDI 1400.25-V336, January 22, 2015: Maximum Entry Age: **The maximum entry age for DoD Law Enforcement is 37. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37 will not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions without an approved age waiver. Employee is required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include weekends and holidays. The employee is required to properly carry, maintain, load, unload and fire various weapons. The employee will have resource protection (weapons and ammunition) responsibilities that could include the use of deadly force. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Employee must successfully complete annual/recurring requirements specified for the position. Courses include: Law of Armed Conflict, Explosive Safety, Professional and Unprofessional relationships, Suicide Awareness, and other programs as directed by the Security Forces Commander. Employee must successfully complete the USAF Combat Arms Technical Training Course or equivalent before allowed to instruct on weapons Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles (GMV) in accordance with AFI 24-301, Vehicle Operations. Never convicted of domestic violence IAW the Lautenberg Amendment. No history of excessive alcohol use or arrested in the past two years for two or more alcohol related incidents regardless of disposition, except when proven not guilty. No more than one active wage garnishment for delinquency. No more than two delinquent charge off/collection (>= 30 days) payments within last two years. Must not have used, distributed, or manufactured illicit narcotics or been arrested for any narcotics use, distribution or manufacturing. Have not sniffed or used a substance to obtain an altered consciousness state from aerosol spray, lighter fluid, petro chemical, adhesives, Freon, or any other chemical for a purpose not intended for use. Qualified to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, "Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel". No acts of larceny, wrongful appropriation, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, misconduct in combat defined in UCMJ Articles 99-106, or any act that harmed or had the potential to harm the physical safety or well-being of animals to include Military Working Dogs. Never convicted by a civilian court of a Category One, Two, or Three offense, nor exceeded the accepted number of Category Four offenses. The Category Three and Four traffic offenses alone are not disqualifying. Note: Categories of offenses are described and listed in AFI 36-2002, "Regular Air Force and Special Category Accessions, Uniform Guide List of Typical Offenses". No documented record of gang affiliation. No fear of working around nuclear weapons or nuclear components. Position requires routine access to Secret material; and, a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) is required. Must maintain an Air Force Network License Physical Demands: Works on different terrain surfaces, in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, materials, weapons, and equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds. May occasionally handle items that weigh up to 75 pounds. Specialized material handling equipment is available for heavier items. Work Environment: Work will require standing on feet for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds and low/high crawling up to 25 meters. Work may take place in a variety of weather conditions. Work efforts include running short distances and move over, around, and through obstacles to heights of 10 feet. Walking is required (i.e., 1000 meters) and may occur in extreme temperatures over rough terrain. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of noisy conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment (e.g. ear plugs, eye protection, and gloves).
