Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER, Position Description Number NGD2156000 and is part of the MD 175th ANG, National Guard.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Military Grades: ENLISTED E-5 TO E-6 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. lead, manage, and perform security force activities in direct support of the United States Nuclear Enterprise; weapon systems and physical security; law and order; military working dog; combat arms; and area security operations. The work directs the control and operations of firing ranges; and inspects, repairs, and maintains ground weapons. Enforce laws, maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and protects life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations Quality of Experience: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.*4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.5. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission.6. The employee is required to properly carry, maintain, load, unload and fire various weapons. The employee will have resource protection (weapons and ammunition) responsibilities that could include the use of deadly force.7. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.8. Employee must successfully complete annual/recurring requirements specified for the position. Courses include: Law of Armed Conflict, Explosive Safety, Professional and Unprofessional relationships, Suicide Awareness, and other programs as directed by the Security Forces Commander.
