Point of Care Laboratory Team Lead

LabCorp is seeking a Point of Care Laboratory Team Leader to join our team at Ascension Columbia St Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee campus in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4pm. No weekends. No holidays

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Point of Care departments throughout our Ascension Medical Group sites across the northern Milwaukee area
  • Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
  • Partner with clinicians, leaders, and associates to ensure best practices are being followed for waived and non-waived point of care testing
  • Ensure quality and safety practices are implemented and followed at each location
  • Monitor training and competency assessment of associates performing waived and non-waived Point of Care testing
  • Monitor proficiency waived and non-waived testing performance and results
  • Implement new waived and non-waived point of care test methods
  • Monitor quality control for waived and non-waived point of care testing
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Perform site visits to AMG clinics across the Milwaukee area when needed 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology 
  • 2 or more years of experience performing waived and non-waived testing in a medical laboratory setting

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 2 or more years of point of care (POC) testing
  • 3 or more years of experience as a clinical lab technician or technologist
  • 1 or more years of leadership experience

Additional Job Standards: 

  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements.
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures 
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal 
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office   
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills  
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment  
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position 
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
