About This Job

The AVP, PMO Standards & Enablement Manager is a senior operational role responsible for strengthening PMO execution through governance integrity, audit readiness, standards ownership, delivery enablement, and targeted project intervention. This role ensures consistent, audit ready reporting, strong financial and risk controls, and disciplined delivery practices across the enterprise portfolio.
This role partners closely with PMO leadership, Project Managers, Finance, Risk/Compliance, Technology, and delivery teams to drive execution consistency and improve portfolio outcomes. While not directly owning enterprise platforms, the role plays a critical enablement function—supporting scale, automation, and operational resiliency across the PMO.

Requirements:

  • Controls, Audit Readiness & Governance Integrity: Drives consistent, audit‑ready portfolio reporting by establishing and enforcing strong governance and control disciplines, including financial controls, risk management, and reporting standards. Ensures PMO artifacts and reporting are complete, accurate, timely, and defensible for internal and external audits. Partners with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Project Managers to align PMO governance with enterprise control expectations.

  • PMO Standards & Delivery Enablement: Owns and continuously improves PMO standards, delivery methodology, playbooks, templates, and operating cadences across the portfolio. Leads intake governance and enablement services to ensure project readiness, scope clarity, dependency visibility, and consistent handoffs. Defines and enforces standards for project setup, RAID discipline, change control, executive reporting, milestone governance, and project closure. Coaches and enables Project Managers to improve execution discipline and standards adoption.

  • PMO Platforms, Automation & Scale (Enablement Role): Supports and influences PMO tools, automation, and integrations to improve scalability, transparency, and execution consistency without direct system ownership. Defines standard configurations, workflows, reporting expectations, and usage practices in partnership with platform owners. Identifies high‑value automation opportunities that reduce manual effort while improving auditability and data reliability. Ensures tooling reinforces PMO standards and portfolio‑level visibility.

  • Project Rescue & Targeted Intervention: Provides short‑term, focused intervention to stabilize at‑risk projects by addressing governance breakdowns, execution gaps, unclear dependencies, or reporting deficiencies. Rapidly assesses project health, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions such as governance resets, dependency realignment, and recovery planning. Works directly with Project Managers and stakeholders to transition projects back to steady‑state execution.

  • Operational Resiliency & Reporting Continuity: Serve as trained operational backup for quarterly Board reporting, compliance reporting, internal and external audit support, PMO PPM tool support, timekeeping reporting, and accounting reporting support—reducing single‑point‑of‑failure risk and ensuring continuity across critical governance and reporting functions. Maintains documented runbooks and procedures to support scalability, consistency, and cross‑coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Project/Program Management, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project and/or program management, including 7–10 years leading large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives in complex enterprise environments.

  • Proven expertise managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects from initiation through delivery and closure.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and tools such as JIRA, Asana, MS Project, or comparable PMO platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams without direct authority, drive accountability, and ensure consistent project execution.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including executive‑level reporting.

  • Experience in risk identification, mitigation, issue resolution, and change management.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, financial controls, forecasting, and resource optimization.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms.
