Carbery

PMO Project Manager

US - Wauconda, Illinois Full time

Company Overview

Synergy Flavors, part of the Carbery Group, is more than just a leading international supplier of ingredients to the global food and beverage industry—we’re a team driven by purpose. Our vision is simple yet powerful: enriching lives through healthier and tastier foods.

We believe great flavor starts with great people. That’s why we’re committed to hiring creative, passionate individuals who want to make a real impact. With deep expertise across food, beverage, and nutrition, our teams develop high-quality taste solutions that inspire innovation and elevate everyday experiences.

Your Role in Synergy's Success

We’re growing our PMO team and looking for someone to help make it work in practice, not just on paper. This role sits at the intersection of project execution and organizational change - you’ll run key cross-functional initiatives while also helping build the processes, tools, and habits that make projects run better across the whole company.

You will work closely with teams across the business, including senior leadership, on things that actually matter. Some of it will be structured; some of it will be figuring it out as you go. If you’re someone who likes having a clear system and also knows when to set the system aside and just get things moving, this is a good fit.

How You Will Contribute

Portfolio Management

  • Keep project status reporting organized and up to date across the Synergy portfolio so leadership always has a clear picture.

  • Manage specific project portfolios - from intake through closure - making sure work follows our standards and nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Run training and onboarding for project leaders and end users on how we work and the tools we use.

Project Management

  • Own the execution of strategic company initiatives - build the plan, manage the timeline, and keep teams moving.

  • Develop detailed project plans that account for dependencies, resources, and risks.

  • Keep cross-functional teams aligned and accountable to what they’ve committed to.

  • Spot problems early and deal with them before they become bigger issues.

  • Close projects properly: run post-mortems and bring back what you learned.

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Look for things that slow projects down and build better, more repeatable ways of doing them.

  • Help establish the rhythms that keep work on track - planning cycles, reporting cadences, standing meetings.

  • Bring structure to how decisions are documented and shared.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning where relevant.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Keep leadership and key stakeholders informed with clear, honest updates.

  • Facilitate conversations that help teams reach decisions and move forward.

  • Be straight with people about timelines, trade-offs, and what’s realistic.

  • Build relationships across teams so that collaboration actually happens.

Essential

  • 2–4 years in project management, program management, business operations, or consulting

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of following through

  • Comfortable using data to inform decisions and explain what’s happening

  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with people at different levels

  • Able to handle ambiguity and manage multiple priorities without losing the thread

Desirable

  • CAPM or PMP certification, or active coursework toward it

  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel; experience with project management tools

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise platforms

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
