As a Plumber, you will install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, inspect

equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards. You will work closely with a team of skilled tradespeople, supervisors, and project managers to ensure the proper installation and maintenance of plumbing systems. Plumbers contribute indirectly to patient care by ensuring the functionality of critical systems, such as water supply and fire protection, which impact safety and hygiene in healthcare

environments.

This position provides opportunities for growth, with access to technical training programs, certifications, and opportunities to work on complex systems to further their expertise.

A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holiday requirements

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Inspect, repair and perform maintenance on all types of plumbing systems to include heating, steam, gas lines and medical gas systems.
  • Install and maintain pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and fittings.
  • Test fire system valves, tamper switches, fire pumps and dry deluge fire systems.
  • Repair and maintain steam stations, pressure relief valves, heating/condensate return stations, back flow preventers and sewer/storm drains.
  • May occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • Four years of experience as a plumber, including experience with pressurized gas systems, vacuum systems, steam, hot water and fire protection system 
  • Microsoft software knowledge

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Plumbing License through the Ohio Department of Commerce
  • Medical Gas Certification though National Inspection Testing and Certification Corporation (NITC)
  • Certified Backflow Tester Certification though the Ohio Department of Commerce

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to climb ladders
