SUMMARY

The Plating Operator has a good working knowledge of metal plating processes on machined motor components to meet strict quality and industry standards. This includes preparing surfaces, executing plating operations such as electroplating and anodizing, and monitoring bath chemistry to ensure optimal adhesion and finish. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot plating issues while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean machined parts for plating (degreasing, masking, etc.).
  • Perform plating processes (electroplating, anodizing, and other surface treatments) per specifications.
  • Monitor and adjust plating parameters (temperature, voltage, time) for quality results.
  • Measure and record bath levels (pH, specific gravity, titrations) and maintain chemical balance.
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with ASTM, AMS, and MIL standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of plating operations and test results.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Materials teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to EHS, OSHA, and hazardous waste disposal guidelines.
  • Must have basic understanding and usage of mechanical gaging equipment and electrical test equipment
  • Experience and knowledge of inspection techniques, tools, materials and equipment
  • Must be able to read and work to blue-prints and work instructions
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly testing requirements, samples, and testing as outline in QC-S-155
  • Correlate data, update daily and weekly internal quality metrics/sample results
  • Maintaining records for results from QC-S-155 and making updates as needed
  • Perform metal plating processes including electroplating, anodizing, and other surface treatments according to established specifications.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum two years’ experience in related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry and plating bath maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical standards.
  • Familiarity with mechanical gaging and electrical test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and computer skills (Excel proficiency).
  • Strong mechanical technical background to troubleshoot systems, machinery, test equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High School Diploma or GED
