Job Description
The Role –
As the Platform Software Engineering Leader, you will build and lead a platform software team responsible for consuming component software developed by global GM teams, then configuring, calibrating, and hardening it for release across multiple vehicle programs. You will scale modern engineering practices—automation, CI/CD, and simulation-driven development—to improve quality, reduce integration risk, and accelerate delivery. Your team will own platform-level software knowledge, configuration strategy, and calibration workflows, ensuring robust, repeatable releases. In this highly visible role, you will collaborate with global stakeholders and cross-functional partners to define roadmaps, manage risk, and drive standardization of platform software practices.
What You’ll Do -
Build and lead a high-performing platform software engineering team focused on ownership, craftsmanship, and deep product understanding.
Own platform software configuration and calibration/parameter sets, including release governance, quality metrics, compliance, and auditability.
Align software releases with calibration milestones and vehicle hardware timelines, managing content, dependencies, and risks across multiple vehicle programs.
Champion simulation and virtual development environments (e.g., MIL/SIL/HIL, virtual ECUs, CI/CD pipelines) to shift integration earlier and enable frequent automated regression testing.
Drive standardization and automation of calibration/configuration workflows, including KPI definition, product health monitoring, and CI/CD practices with global stakeholders.
Represent Platform Software Engineering in cross-functional forums, clearly communicating software scope, status, and impacts to engineering, validation, operations, and program management teams.
Identify and lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives to reduce calibration rework, increase throughput, and improve integration efficiency across regions.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) -
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Typically 12+ years in automotive software, calibration, or embedded systems, with significant experience owning platform- or product-level software.
Proven people leadership experience (team lead or people leader) in a complex, cross-functional engineering environment.
Hands-on experience with calibration and configuration processes and tools, plus backlog/release tooling such as Jira or equivalent.
Demonstrated program management of software products across multiple vehicle programs, including management of content, milestones, risk, and cross-team dependencies.
Experience working with virtual development environments (e.g., MIL/SIL/HIL, virtual ECUs, CI/CD) in support of calibration and integration workflows.
Strong understanding of software-defined vehicle architectures and platform software concepts, including feature integration, release management, and platform builds.
Working knowledge of embedded software and calibrations (e.g., C/C++, model-based development, configuration and parameter management).
Familiarity with Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to influence across organizations (software, hardware, validation, operations, suppliers/partners) and drive alignment without direct authority.
Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical topics into clear, decision-ready information for diverse audiences.
Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, with a track record of owning outcomes and improving processes at scale.
PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU DO NOT NEED SPONSORSHIP TO WORK IN SOUTH KOREA NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. WE ARE UNABLE TO CONSIDER CANDIDATES WHO REQUIRE SPONSORSHIP.
Leadership experience in a platform or release engineering organization within a global automotive or software-defined vehicle environment.
Deep experience with automotive calibration and configuration toolchains and associated data management practices.
Proven track record implementing simulation-driven calibration strategies and automated regression pipelines for integration and release.
Experience leading distributed or global engineering teams and collaborating across time zones and cultures.
Prior responsibility for defining and tracking software KPIs (e.g., release readiness, CI/CD coverage, rework reduction, integration stability) at a platform or product level.
Strong background in change management and continuous improvement (e.g., lean, DevOps, or similar frameworks) in complex engineering organizations.
