Skawina’s engine cooling plant is the largest and oldest Valeo site in Poland. The plant designs and manufactures the latest generation of innovative heat exchangers, i.e., engine coolers, oil coolers, air turbocharger coolers, air-conditioning and complete engine cooling systems (cooling modules), which in addition to their basic functions allow to reduce fuel consumption and emissions of harmful substances including carbon dioxide.
Currently for our entity Valeo Thermal Systems in Skawina we recruit an Advanced Development Technical Leader.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Delivers innovative solutions in an Open innovation context:
- Provides technical guidance to the R&I Project Team in his/her expertise field(s)
- Report progress and escalate critical issues to the Project Manager or R&D Manager as required
- Act as the first technical contact of the project internally & externally
- Solves and overcomes blocking issues in innovation by proposing new ideas providing the relevant analysis & justification, etc… in the frame of his/her work-package
- Develops and explains solution(s) selection based on multi-criteria decision matrix
- Identifies and proposes optimization potential on existing products
- Participates to ensure smooth and effective transfer of R&I projects to business when decided
- Organize reviews and technical meetings, addressing key issues and ensuring alignment between stakeholders
- Monitor all topics from DRs, define action plans and ensure no late resolution
- Capitalizes the know-how (write state of the art synthesis, technical guidance, procedures, standards, …)
- Cross-fertilizes knowledge, developed during R&I project, across Division/PG’s/PLs
Manages the internal and external contributors in his/her field:
- Daily management of 1st level R&D contributors - disciplines dedicated to the project, assign to them the work packages and tasks needed, according to project needs and ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks
- Lead weekly R&D meetings with all contributors, focusing on key issues such as the SLI (Single List of Issues), schedule critical paths, and budget management. Documented discussions with clear meeting minutes
- Deals with external partners (Technology providers, labs, start-ups): assesses partners’ know-how/technologies and potential for Valeo in his/her field(s) of expertise. Develops proximity links with existing and potential new partners to investigate and analyze their technological roadmaps
- Manages the R&D internal contributors with the Metier Department (calculation, testing facilities, etc.), checks alignment between needs and availabilities and resources
Protects Innovation:
- Write IDMs to formalize innovative ideas and proposes mining strategy when relevant
- Performs Freedom to Operate analysis (FTO)
- Contributes to IP committees by providing advices in the limit of his/her expertise field(s)
Watches Technologies & Benchmarks:
- Analyzes competitors ‘products and patents to assess and select innovative solutions to nourish R&I Projects according to their potential
- Anticipates possible technological turns by identifying and analyzing relevant information sources
- Explores alternative technological solutions used in adjacent industries and assess their potential for automotive application
- Contributes to the construction of the roadmap included in TDP for the next generation of product
- Participates to the most relevant events (ie. Experts symposium, conferences, round table…)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical background in mechanics, aerolics and acoustics
- Highly creative approach and thinking “outside of the box”
- Experience on fan system design
- Experience in technical team management and contributors.
- 5 years’ experience in the automotive/aerospace industry
- Fluency in English
- Very good communication and cooperation skills
- High autonomy and motivation to drive topics and projects on his own
