Plant Supervisor – Concrete Operations

Location: Castleford | Full Time | Permanent | £32,500

Are you an experienced, safety‑focused professional ready to take full ownership of a busy concrete plant? This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in site leadership, operational excellence, and customer service while supervising a critical production environment.

Reporting directly to the District Operations Manager, the Plant Supervisor has overall responsibility for the control, safety, presentation, and performance of the site.

Purpose of the Role

You will work closely with site team members to produce concrete efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. As the visible face of the operation, you’ll ensure the site makes the right first impression through cleanliness, organisation, and professionalism, while consistently delivering excellent customer service.

Key Accountabilities

As Plant Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating computer‑based batching and dispatch systems accurately and efficiently

  • Acting as a key point of contact for customers, both face‑to‑face and by telephone

  • Supervising contractors and hauliers to ensure safe and compliant site operations

  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety at Work legislation and Environmental regulations

  • Managing emissions in line with approved environmental procedures

  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of approved materials, additives, and fuel to meet production demands

  • Carrying out routine maintenance, inspections, and defect reporting, recording actions accurately

  • Reporting any issues that could impact health & safety, environmental compliance, product quality, or service

  • Maintaining strict adherence to company policies relating to health & safety, environmental management, quality control, fraud prevention, and the Competition Act

  • Keeping the site, plant, and associated buildings clean, tidy, secure, and safe at all times

  • Maintaining effective site security

  • Accurately batching concrete and/or mortar in line with company procedures

  • Ensuring all material tickets are entered correctly and escalating discrepancies to the area admin clerk

  • Managing delivery tickets requiring action, placing them on hold immediately and raising CRDF forms with detailed, accurate information to support timely resolution

  • You will also be expected to undertake any additional duties reasonably required to support site operations.

Education & Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
