Heidelberg Materials

Plant Performance & Optimisation Specialist

Pinkenba, QLD Full time

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, our National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre is changing the way we run our operations. It connects data, planning and plant expertise to deliver smarter, more consistent performance across our quarry and recycling network.

We are now seeking a Plant Performance & Optimisation Specialist to provide direct support to site leadership teams and play a critical role in strengthening plant performance nationally.

The Opportunity

Based at our Skygate office, near the Brisbane Airport,, you will partner closely with plant leadership across multiple aggregate and recycling sites to improve plant KPIs, optimise yield and maximise asset utilisation.

You will also coach and support our Optimisation Specialists, strengthening capability in plant operations and embedding best practice across the network. Occasional travel to supported sites will ensure your strategies remain grounded in operational reality.

This is a high-impact, highly visible role that connects planning, production, quality and commercial outcomes.

What You Will Drive

You will support site management teams by undertaking detailed assessments and modelling to solve complex, competing operational demands. Your focus will include:

  • Validating and supporting improvement initiatives identified by Optimisation Specialists across all quarries supported by the Remote Optimisation Centre
  • Collaborating with plant teams to develop short and medium-term production plans that meet sales demand and quality requirements
  • Building a clear understanding of medium and long-term pit development plans, geological variation and known quality constraints
  • Analysing area-wide operational needs to enable product substitution, avoid simultaneous shutdowns, and minimise inter-site competition for labour and equipment resources
  • Optimising plant mode changes to reduce lost production time and minimise output losses
  • Developing clear production plans with defined yield and quality outcomes
  • Partnering with plant leadership, Reliability SMEs, the CCA Engineering Head, contractors, sales and quality teams to ensure plans are executed effectively
  • Coordinating with regional management and planners to align operational delivery with broader business needs

You will bring clarity to complexity and structure to competing priorities.

About You

You are a deep analytical thinker who is comfortable navigating data, modelling tools and operational trade-offs. You operate independently, prioritising effectively as conditions shift across sites.

You are a confident and engaging communicator, able to translate technical modelling outputs into clear operational direction for frontline teams and executive stakeholders alike. You influence through credibility, expertise and sound judgement.

You understand that optimisation is not theoretical. It must work in the pit, on the plant and in the market.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum five years’ experience operating crushing and screening equipment
  • Strong familiarity with the products supplied to the markets serviced by our operations
  • Solid understanding of material specifications, properties and end-use applications
  • Competence in mode modelling using tools such as AggFlow, Bruno or similar platforms
  • Experience using SAP, JD Edwards or comparable Tier 1 ERP systems
  • Familiarity with automation systems, electrical infrastructure and heavy mobile equipment operations
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts across all organisational levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to positively influence organisational change
  • Advanced critical thinking and analytical capability
  • Commercial awareness aligned to production, quality and sales outcomes

Why This Role Matters

The National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre is a strategic investment in the future of our aggregates business. This role ensures that plant planning, geological realities and commercial demand are aligned across the network.

You will not just improve KPIs. You will help shape how our sites plan, coordinate and perform together.

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are building smarter, more connected operations for a stronger future.

If you are ready to lead from the centre and influence performance across the country, we would welcome your application.
