Plant Master Electrician

The Plant Master Electrician will be responsible for overseeing all the Electrical Design, installation, and maintenance work performed in the facilities. This individual must also ensure that all Electrical work is compliant with OSHA and all the of the Local, State, and National Electrical Codes. The Plant Master Electrician must be licensed with the State of Minnesota as a Class A Master Electrician and become registered with the State as the “Master of Record” for all GF-BFS facilities in Minnesota. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all the electrical work performed at any of the GF-BFS locations by the contractors or employees will comply with all OSHA safety requirements and all the Local, State, and National Electrical Codes.

  • Contribute to the creation, as well as update, and maintain the ‘GF-BFS Electrical Safety Program’ and ensure that all employees are properly trained on the Electrical Safety Program and all its requirements. (Requirement of NFPA70E)

  • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are being followed by all the employees and contractors at all the GF-BFS facilities, also required to perform and document multiple audits a year to confirm compliance. (Requirement of NFPA70E)

  • Oversee and plan all the electrical design, required system PMs, repairs, and upgrades that are performed on the Electrical Systems for all the GF-BFS locations in Minnesota.

  • Continually monitors the incoming power at all of the GF-BFS locations for quality and for unexpected changes in demand usage.

  • Assists in Skill Training and the development or acquisition of future electrical talent.

  • Works closely with Engineering to ensure that electrical Models, Prints, and documentation related to the Electrical Systems for all the GF-BFS locations in Minnesota are accurate and up to date. (Example: ETAP models, One-Line diagrams, Electrical CAD Drawings, Panel Schedules, etc.)

  • Work closely with the Journeyman Electrician and Maintenance Manager to make sure that projects remain on schedule and on budget. 

  • Provides scope of work to aid in the selection process of electrical and mechanical contractors

  • Work with Engineering on design and wiring requirements for any planned new equipment or design changes. Also calculate and report the expected change to the energy efficiency, carbon footprint, and annual utility costs.

  • Works with the Utilities to locate and qualify for any rebate available.

  • Fully engaged in the 6S, lean, and tier management for organization.

  • Cleans personal and job site areas daily.

  • Returns tools to proper locations as part of lean.

  • All parts used, work performed, and other paperwork properly completed and documented.

  • Participates in contributing and completion of continuous improvement suggestions, A3, Kaizen Events and projects for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a valid Minnesota Class A Master Electrician license.

  • Must be able to be registered as the “Master of Record” for GF-BFS

  • Prefer trade school or an apprenticeship.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Industrial electrical three phase systems.

  • Strong communications skills.

  • Critical thinking skills.

  • Understand and execute verbal and written technical instructions.

  • Skilled knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical distribution and controls.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the technical skills required for this position.

  • Must be self-starter and work under minimal supervision.

Please note that this range represents the full base salary wage for the role and hiring at or near the top of the range is uncommon to ensure room for future pay advancement.
