Plant Manager
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Donegal
Hybrid/Onsite: Onsite
Working Pattern (Time/Hours): 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
On call & Overtime as required
Overview of the role:
Veolia is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, interested in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and confident in dealing with several third parties. The role involves maintenance and operation of the site, requiring due diligence, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
The Plant Manager will have complete responsibility for the management of the facility, the associated treatment processes, and personnel. The role will have responsibility for ensuring that all work is carried out accurately within defined constraints, such as time and budget, and with due diligence.
The role will involve effective communication and interaction with management, team members, clients, and suppliers so as to ensure that deliverables and company goals are achieved. In executing the role it is paramount that Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company-specific, are fully respected and taken into account.
Day to day of the role:
Monitoring and controlling the day to day operation of the treatment plant, in accordance with site O&M Plan, to optimise plant performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements
Preparation of Monthly PMS reports detailing plant performance, and significant plant activities
Organisation of all planned and unplanned maintenance and repair activities through use of the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to ensure optimum plant performance and equipment life
Sourcing and dealing with equipment Vendors for fault finding/equipment repair, plant improvements
Preparation and implementation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe work practices by staff and subcontractors
Management of site staff and subcontractors, including management of call-out
roster and response to emergency breakdowns
Use of remote monitoring tools as appropriate to verify plant condition. Availability for response to plant failures outside normal operation hours in accordance with roster for same, and general availability to assist in remote troubleshooting where appropriate
Budget responsibility for plant operation costs and staff costs
Full responsibility for reporting in a timely and accurate manner to Head Office and to the Client
Liaising with our Client and any regulatory bodies on site
Responsibility for ensuring that all maintenance work is carried out accurately and with due diligence
Organising , planning and prioritising your own work, and that of resources delegated to you
Prepare weekly work schedules and conduct weekly progress meetings and prepare weekly progress reports
Effective management, guidance and training of delegated resources
Effective time management and execution of work within defined timeline and budgetary constraints
Problem-solving and troubleshooting mechanical, process, and electrical problems and application of good working principles;
Support and assist the General Manager and Regional Director;
Collaborate with and support other Managers within Veolia on operational issues, best practices, and Business Development initiatives.
Ensure continued improvement for more efficient production of plant and maintenance work
Ensure Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company-specific, are fully respected and taken into account of
Required skills for this role:
Engineering degree or Management degree
Relevant trade qualification (mechanical/electrical)
Operational experience on a water treatment site is desirable
Management experience on a water/wastewater site is desirable
Management of people and resources
Effectively manage time and resources to deliver on operational timelines within budget constraints
Good communication skills, and people management skills
Self-motivated individual with high achievement prospects
