POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose

This position is accountable for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of AP’s ASU and assets in Pengerang site, Malaysia. In addition, the position interfaces with the business area to ensure optimum cost and profitable operation for the facility. This position interfaces with Commercial team, Customer, AP EH&S, Operations Excellence, Technical Solutions team, HR and other functional areas to ensure flawless operation and regulatory compliance.

Nature and Scope

This is an operation management role for IG Malaysia to setup, operate, improve and sustain world class ASU and related facilities in the Pengerang site.

This position reports to MY Operation Line Manager. The position holder has 2 direct reports and managing the AP Pengerang ASU and any applicable future facilities. This number may change depending on the business conditions in the area.  

This position directly manages and coordinates all activities associated with Pengerang ASU and related facilities, is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and integrity rich work environment in compliance with government requirements and company’s standards and values, to maintain Operational and Maintenance programs within budget, drive continuous improvement for Operational Excellence on Safety, People, Service, Quality, Reliability and Cost as well as supporting business development.

This position is responsible for formulation of and adherence to annual operations budget, conformance with established goals and objectives. This position is directly accountable to lead the organization to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations.

The job holder will support business growth and new business modes which leverage existing operations resources and people development and set up AP operations management system for new-built plants and M&A production sites, regarding facility and technology, personnel, work processes, and management systems.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead the operational activities on site; also as key contributor to participate in formulating and administering IG Malaysia Operations policies and developing long range goals and objectives at site. This includes the direction, focus, and visualization of activities in responsible areas to further the overall progressive goals and objectives and monitor their progress.

• Safety leadership to deliver company people safety goal (behaviors) and responsible for Process safety management implementation (improve conditions) in production plants under care for world-class safety performance. 

• Lead the company's production activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained to produce quality products within budgetary guidelines and achieve productivity improvement targets.

• Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities and successfully enable scalability to achieve our goals of meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives. 

• Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and delivery schedules are met. Formulate processes to enable relevant management systems in place such as ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO 45001 and/or Halal certifications; whichever applicable. To lead the local operations team to deploy the practice of Food Safety Management System to the applicable sites. Also lead in the maintenance of all relevant accreditations and quality assurances related system for the production plants.

• Coordinate with Plant Project engineering and Maintenance team to ensure production facilities and equipment are adequately set up, built and maintained. The emphasis will be on highly reliable plant operations and creating strategies to reduce capital, labor and material costs and pursuit maintenance excellence

• Facilitating team decision on Improving and Simplifying current working processes, especially cross-functional working processes and create new ones if there is not clear-- to have formal management system and clear work process with RACI chart in place, to smooth the productivity projects 

• Facilitate Risk Evaluation and decision-making process to take calculated risks to support business decision making.

• Lead in improving Conducts of Operation and implementing Operation discipline program in production site, bring BRP (basically reliability program) into formal management system, benchmarking best practice of industrial operation management system.

• Develop talents and organization to support Growth and drive Operations Safety, Reliability and Efficiency. 

• Accountable to ensure all AP assets and operations under care are always complying with national and local legislative requirements.

• Ensuring safe and reliable operations via continuous review and monitor operation of all sites under care to ensure procedures are up to date with latest AP best practices and approved procedures.

• Facilitate audits processes to assess the compliances of AP On site operations activities against to AP’s standard or relevant applicable standards (i.e., ISO standards, AP Corporate EHS audits, Halal recertification audits, customer audits).

• Functions as a site manager and accountable to manage the site general activities, inclusive but not limited to manage the site security activities and other compliances requirement (i.e., renewal of business licensing, fire certificates with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia)

• Other responsibilities assigned according to operations and business requirements from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Job Incumbent is expected to have bachelor’s degree related to Process Industry, Operation management, Advanced degree on engineering, business management and ASU experience will be a plus

• Job Incumbent is expected to have about 10 years work experience in a similar work environment, with > 3 years in people managing position(s).

• Deep knowledge in EHS compliance in Chemical /Process Industrial, like OSHA, PSM and DOSH

• Candidate who exhibits characteristics of a leader who is determined, results oriented, persuasive, and a strong communicator

• Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results

• Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organization levels

• Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action

• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

• Previous experience/strong understanding of the P&L and of financial and accounting practices will be an added advantage
