Job Summary

The Plant Manager will direct the activities of plant employees in a safe, compliant, reliable, and economical manner including electric power production, maintenance, engineering, construction, accounting, procurement, materials management, human resources, public affairs, tax matters and compliance with regulating agencies. Responsible for establishing and maintaining two-way communications with employees, managers and the general public. Provide leadership and manage change by the development of a culture that promotes/supports teamwork, process improvement activities, employee development, and proper recognition and reward.

Job Description

What you’ll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control plant activities including the operation, maintenance, engineering and construction of the plant's facilities in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
  • Support the System Safety Process. Develop, maintain and enforce safe working conditions by providing proper and adequate tools, equipment, protective clothing and devices, and training.
  • Establish and enforce safe work behaviors. Participate in the setting of safety goals for an accident-free work environment. Communicate to employees about the importance of a safe work environment on a daily basis. Investigate, report and track incidents/accidents including root cause analysis and corrective action taken. Report findings to management and to employees.
  • Develop long range plans for maintenance and operational excellence, capital improvements, equipment availability, cultural transformation, and the plant organization's succession planning requirements.
  • Direct long range planning activities including maintenance management, materials management, QA/QC, human resources, accounting, predictive and preventative maintenance systems, and public relations.
  • Develop short range (three year to coincide with the investment review committee) plan and forecasts in cooperation with engineering and maintenance personnel; develop budgets, prepare variance reports and control expenditures to meet approved budgets.

What we’re looking for:

Education requirements are listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, business management; or associate degree in a technical field, chemistry, environmental services, accounting, or equivalent applied knowledge (see experience).

Work Experience requirement listed below:

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience including work in plant operations, maintenance, and performance areas. Experience should include business/financial and human resources administration.
  • A minimum of eight years supervising others.

Other preferences:

Training should include company courses in leadership, supervision, change management, team skills, problem solving & decision making, process improvement, safety, business skills and other relevant courses.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) or equivalent certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma for process improvement.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Adaptability to changing regulatory and market conditions

Compensation Range:

$155,761.00 - $202,490.50

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
