Teledyne RISI is a leader in energetic and initiation components serving highly regulated markets, including defense and industrial applications. Our Tracy, CA facility plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality, on‑time solutions to customers who depend on operational excellence and supply chain reliability.

Position Overview

Teledyne RISI is seeking a Planning Manager to lead planning, customer fulfillment, and supply chain coordination at our Tracy manufacturing site. This role is responsible for managing demand and production planning, quoting and order processing, material planning and procurement, MRP system accuracy, and customer service coordination.

The Planning Manager partners closely with Site Leadership, Operations, Sales, Finance, and Quality teams to ensure customer commitments are met while optimizing inventory, cost, and production performance.

This is a highly visible role with direct impact on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff management (up to 5 people)

  • Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.

  • Maintain and reduce inventory gaps to ensure production can build without limitations.

  • Improve supply-chain and support/supervise admin to purchase needed components. 

  • Production Planning & Forecasting and material procurement

  • Apply forecasting tools and methods to support short‑ and mid‑term planning decisions.

  • Balance customer demand with manufacturing capacity and inventory objectives.

  • Product shipping and material receiving

  • Purchase order processing and invoice billing

  • Inventory/stock reporting

  • Customer service functions (questions, status updates, billings, collections)

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proven experience using forecasting tools and demand planning methods.

  • Experience working in medical device, component manufacturing, or similar regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports and operational forecasts.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across functions.

  • Proactive and collaborative attitude.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret various business documents, technical procedures and government regulations.  

  • Ability to write reports and correspondence. 

  • Ability to effectively present information and response to questions before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Must be 21 or older

  • Must be able to pass ATF background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business, or a related field or 5-7 years relevant experience.

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Prior experience coordinating planning or supply chain activities in a multi‑function operation.

Salary Range:

$96,600.00-$128,800.000
