Heidelberg Materials

Pit & HME Performance Specialist

Pinkenba, QLD Full time

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are transforming how our quarries operate. Our newly created National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre in Brisbane is a major step forward in how we use technology, data, and operational expertise to drive smarter performance across the country.

This role sits right at the centre of it.

The Opportunity

As a Pit & HME Performance Specialist, you will directly support operational Pit and Production Supervisors across multiple sites, with live access to real-time HME performance data for both operator-driven and autonomous fleets.

From Brisbane, you will influence how our national quarry network plans, moves, maintains and optimises its mobile fleet. This is a high-impact role designed to lift productivity, reduce cost, improve plant throughput and embed next-generation operating practices across the business.

You will work alongside other specialists in the Centre who are focused on total site performance. Think integrated optimisation, not siloed decision-making. Occasional travel to supported sites will keep you connected to the realities of the pit.

This role will help change the way we operate our Aggregates business.

What You Will Drive

You will partner with site leadership teams to develop and refine production plans that maximise HME performance and efficiency. Your focus will include:

  • Collaborating with senior site supervisors, mine planners and maintenance teams to ensure traffic management enables safe and efficient haulage
  • Supporting haul road redesign initiatives to enable Autonomous Haulage Systems
  • Validating HME fleet requirements against daily and monthly production targets, guiding maintenance scheduling to protect output
  • Interrogating load and haul data, including oversize management, secondary breakage and ROM management
  • Leveraging OEM telematics to reduce idle time, increase payload and improve cycle times
  • Assessing escalated pre-start findings and guiding maintenance decisions in partnership with the APAC HME Head
  • Tracking daily production performance, reporting insights and recommending adjustments
  • Developing HME utilisation strategies that ensure efficient material flow from bench to plant or ROM
  • Supporting national rebuild, replacement and maintenance planning standards

You will turn live data into decisive action. You will influence production outcomes without waiting for permission and you will help embed a national optimisation mindset across our Aggregates business.

About You

You are commercially sharp and operationally grounded. You understand hard rock quarrying, load and haul dynamics and the mechanics behind equipment performance.

You are a deep analytical thinker who backs recommendations with evidence. You are self-governed, adaptable and comfortable navigating mixed fleets, evolving resourcing and multiple OEM environments.

You communicate with confidence at every level, from frontline operators to executive leadership. You influence through expertise, credibility and clarity.

Experience

  • Minimum five years’ experience in extractive operations with HME
  • Demonstrated expertise in load and haul within hard rock quarry operations
  • Strong knowledge of drill and blast practices
  • Experience in stripping, feed blending and ROM management
  • Proficiency in SAP, JD Edwards or comparable Tier 1 ERP systems
  • Proven ability to translate operational data into clear business insights

Why This Role Matters

The National Aggregates & Remote Optimisation Centre is a strategic investment in the future of our business. This role is not just about monitoring performance. It is about shaping it.

If you want to be part of a step-change in how a national aggregates business operates, and you are ready to play a key role in that transformation, we would like to hear from you.

At Heidelberg Materials Australia, we are building smarter operations for a stronger future.
