Job Summary: This position serves as a Pipefitter Supervisor within the Maintenance and Operations Section of the Facilities Management Service located at Northport VA Medical Center. The incumbent has full responsibility of the Plumbing Shop.

Major Duties:

  • Duties include but are not limited to: Directs, plans, lays-out, and supervises work of regularly assigned employees through providing general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities, and policies. Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on day-to-day, week-to-week, or project-by-project basis Organizes and directs all assigned resources, determining operating and maintenance requirements, forecasts fuel, supplies materials, and manpower requirements Schedules any equipment shutdown for minimum interference of medical staff and patients Plans alterations and improvements to equipment which are in line with management goals and objectives. Identifies, prepares, inputs and monitors service contracts Develops and implements plans for operational performance improvement Administrative duties including funds control, record-keeping, supervisory personnel practices, preparation of memoranda and inter-office communications, preparation of engineering reports, surveys, and internal work control audits. Maintains daily logs of all operations, time and attendance records for each employee, labor job timecards, and annual performance rating plans for each employee. Conducts training programs to develop employees for positions requiring a higher degree of mechanical skill in order to have qualified available personnel at all times. Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or alternate as outlined under VAAR 801.603-70 and VAAR 801.603-71, for various facility contracts to ensure all contractors meet the terms and conditions of their respective contracts.
