Description -
The PIP R&D group is responsible for the research, development, and optimization of the various PIPs and OMP supplies across both current and next-generation HP Indigo platforms.
The group develops and tests new software and hardware revisions to improve the PIP and aSiD lifespan. The group manager holds the Engineering Responsibility (ER) for the quality and performance of the supplies throughout their life cycle (from production to customer usage).
The team conducts multidisciplinary research, designs and analyzes experiments in complex systems, monitors supply lifespan and performance in the field and in production, and designs the long-term development roadmap.
The group works closely with R&D teams, marketing, product programs, sourcing, and other stakeholders to resolve field escalations and drive the various PIP supplies to their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a strong multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers (chemical, materials, mechanical), fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
Provide deep technical leadership in experimental design, system-level analysis, and data-driven decision-making within complex, multidisciplinary systems.
Own and drive the development of the PIP, aSiD, and OMP supplies: oversee research and development, product responsibility, product CPP roadmap, yearly and quarterly planning, and aSiD interface development.
Define and execute research and development plans aligned with platform roadmaps and cross-program needs across the organization.
Maintain a system-level perspective, integrating physics, chemistry, materials, mechanics, and algorithms, while translating customer needs into robust technical solutions.
Lead escalation handling and complex problem-solving across platforms and products.
Collaborate closely with multiple interfaces, including R&D groups, program management, procurement, planning, manufacturing, service, and customers.
Implement and maintain standard quality, validation, and assurance practices.
Act as a key technical and managerial focal point for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Profile Requirements
Education: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related engineering/scientific field — mandatory. Advanced degree is an advantage.
Technical Background:
Proven hands-on background in R&D and development environments — mandatory.
High technical depth and system understanding in complex, multidisciplinary products — mandatory.
Strong experience in experimental planning, data analysis, and interpretation in multi-variable systems.
Leadership & Management:
Demonstrated people management experience, including leading engineers and researchers — mandatory.
Ability to manage development in a matrix organization and drive alignment across multiple stakeholders.
Additional Skills:
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to balance deep technical involvement with strategic and managerial responsibilities.
