Provides support to the members of the Medical Staff as directed and scheduled by the Health Information Management Assistant Director and Director. Responsible for physician documentation processes through physician training in use of the Electronic Health Record and maintenance of various electronic health record software applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the following applications: Voice Recognition, Meditech Physician Documentation Module, and fax server.
New physician training and general support as requested on all physician documentation, including initial set up and use of problem list, Voice Recognition software, documentation templates and order entry.
Contact physician and assist physician in correcting documentation errors and/or duplicative documentation within the Problem List.
Maintain a working knowledge of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), PDOC Dictionaries and their contents. Make recommendations on changes to the dictionaries and templates based on physician work flow and process.
Support and maintain Voice Recognition software through the request of licenses, creation of physician specific macros, custom vocabularies, and template build as necessary. Coordinate the development of macros as necessary. Test the builds.
Maintain fax vendor database. Coordinate NPR report downloads and workflow. Manage fax verification, resending, queue failures, training and use of desktop faxing for the end user.
Perform quality review of physician documentation according to Core Measures, CMS, TJC, and coding guidelines under the direction of leadership. Follow-up with physician and/or coordinate with the CDI staff.
Compile daily and weekly PDOC compliance stats by physician and documentation types as requested by leadership. Provide data for and participate in PDOC Steering Committee meetings.
Assist with Meditech upgrades by promoting the downtime schedule, control of downtime forms on units, any DTS testing assigned, submit and track tasks sent to Informatics or EHR vendor tracking system. Provide specific training to physicians related to downtime and their process.
Daily “rounding” of documentation areas to confirm hardware functional by visual inspection and greater visibility of medical staff.
Other duties as assigned
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred.
Licensure: None required.
Experience: Two years’ experience in a hospital environment that included counter usage and Medical terminology.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Sufficient manual dexterity to use all office equipment. Typing and word processing 55 wpm.
Interpersonal Skills: Must be highly skilled in customer service, communication, and maintain professionalism at all times.
