Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Pediatric Cardiologist. Join a well-established department with a collegial team of physicians and dedicated support staff; the position includes outpatient clinic, inpatient consults to Pediatrics, PICU and NICU, EKG and Echo interpretations, along with a 1:3 hospital call. Department has a designated clinic space with its own Pediatric Echo lab. Partner with our onsite fetal-maternal medicine group. Existing partnership with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to provide some onsite pediatric heart surgeries. Outreach to other Marshfield Clinic Health System locations.
Marshfield Children's Hospital
Our 56-bed Children's Hospital is Central Wisconsin's only accredited pediatric hospital, and one of only four in Wisconsin. It is equipped with the latest technology, more than 40 pediatric specialties and board-certified pediatric hospitalists, intensivists, and neonatologists. Certified child life specialists ensure children receive the emotional support they may need to cope with their treatment during their hospital stay. The hospital has 24 bed level 3 NICU with 24/7 neonatology support and normal newborn nursery; 8 bed PICU with 24/7 pediatric intensivist support including sedation services; 26 bed pediatric acute beds including 8 bed Heme-Onc positive pressure rooms and 24/7 pediatric hospitalist support. Marshfield Children’s is an ACS Verified Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Program and a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).

Job Description

Pediatric Cardiology Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services to children and adolescents up to the age of 21 presenting with cardiovascular disease and adults with history of congenital heart disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Physician also may provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with Rules and Regulation and hospital policies.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical-based activity for the past 24 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data. More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program of at least three years’ duration, and completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology of at least 3 years’ duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. The Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors may consider training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above. Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions) Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
