Practice Details

The Black Hills Surgical Hospital is seeking a Pain Medicine Anesthesiologist to join a growing outpatient practice focused on comprehensive musculoskeletal and interventional pain care.

Practice Highlights
Monday – Friday schedule | No call
Outpatient practice
Mix of clinic and procedural days
30–40 patients per day depending on schedule

Clinical Focus
• Comprehensive evaluation and management of acute and chronic pain conditions
• Emphasis on interventional pain procedures including spinal injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and neuromodulation (e.g., spinal cord stimulation)
• Diagnosis and treatment of spine-related pain (degenerative disease, radiculopathy, post-laminectomy syndrome)
• Management of musculoskeletal and joint pain conditions
• Care for neuropathic pain syndromes and complex regional pain disorders
• Cancer-related and palliative pain management
• Multimodal treatment approach incorporating pharmacologic management, interventional techniques, and non-procedural therapies
• Coordination with physical therapy and other specialties to optimize patient outcomes
• Commitment to opioid stewardship and evidence-based prescribing practices

Job Description

Pain Medicine Core Privileges the ability to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adolescent and adult patients with acute and chronic pain or pain requiring palliative care, which includes invasive pain medicine procedures beyond basic pain medicine.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship provides his/her fellowship log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from the facility(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 50 inpatients, outpatients, or consultative services for at least 50 patients during the last 12 months. More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency in Anesthesiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Radiology, Internal Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program and completion of a fellowship in Pain Medicine in accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy. Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists. Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. Compensation

Annual compensation range of $500,000-575,000 for the first two years of the employment contract, plus estimated potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs.
In addition, a $100,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 3 years (this will be subject to a contractual agreement specifying all details)
