The Division of Genetics & Genomics at Corewell Health West/Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is seeking a board eligible/board certified geneticist to join our growing Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics teams. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued expansion of our genetic services and contribute to excellence in patient care, education, and research.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide diagnosis and management for pediatric and adult patients with known or suspected genetic disorders, inherited conditions, and inborn errors of metabolism. Care spans acute inpatient and outpatient settings and is supported by state-of-the-art facilities including a Level IV NICU, Level I PICU, and Level I Trauma Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department.
Practice Description
Our 7 current genetics physicians are members of Corewell Health Medical Group, a physician-led, multispecialty practice. The Division of Genetics & Genomics includes sections of Medical Genetics, Biochemical Genetics, and Cancer Genetics, and collaborates with prenatal care and multiple subspecialty practices across the health system. Responsibilities can be tailored to an individual’s interests in a predominantly outpatient setting. Inpatient call is shared equally amongst all genetics physicians with genetic counselor support. The team consists of physicians, dietitians, genetic counselors, genetic counseling assistants, nurses, dedicated research personnel and other support staff, all dedicated to advancing the Corewell Health/Helen DeVos Children's Hospital mission through:
Clinical excellence
Education and academic engagement
Research and scholarly activity, particularly with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and the Van Andel Research Institute
Advocacy for patients and families
Qualifications
Board eligible or board certified in Medical Genetics and/or Biochemical Genetics
MD or DO with valid physician license
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
