Practice Details

Marshfield Medical Center - Park Falls is seeking a BC/BE Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Med/Peds physician to join our well-established rural health center in Park Falls, Wisconsin. National Health Service Corps (NHSC) approved site.

- Traditional practice providing both outpatient and inpatient care
- Join a collegial group of 2 other physicians and 4 APCs
- Work closely with all departments and a well-supportive care team, including RNs who are wound care trained
- Multiple specialty providers frequently rotate onsite
- Call is a 1:3 rotation for the hospital; Nurse line is 1st call for outpatient (Phone call only)
- Clinic, dental center, and critical access hospital (10 beds) are located on the same campus
- Excellent work-life balance (support for job sharing)

Community Description

Nestled along the Flambeau River, Park Falls is centrally located in rural northern Wisconsin and serves as the regional health care hub. The wooded and relaxed setting of the Park Falls area is an outdoor paradise and has attracted visitors from southern Wisconsin and Illinois for many years. You won’t have a hard time getting out in nature in Price County. There are year-round recreational activities like biking, fishing, ATVing in summer to skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in winter. The quality of Wisconsin’s educational system is well known, and Park Falls is no exception. The residents also have supported a large ice arena project, as well as a renowned junior golf program, which includes a junior golf course and clubhouse. Fun Fact: Park Falls prides itself on its fine athletic programs, boasting recent state championships in both girls’ and boys’ basketball, cross-country, track, and hockey.

Job Description

Family Medicine Core Privileges includes the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit (if applicable to the setting), evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages with a wide variety of illness, diseases, injuries, mental health conditions and functional disorders of circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, integumentary, nervous, female reproductive, and genitourinary systems. This includes the pre-operative care of surgical patients and post-operative medical care of surgical patients and return to work issues.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed residency shall provide their residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations, as applicable. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. Applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Family Medicine by providing case log that includes 25 vaginal deliveries, 50 adult medical patients, and 10 inpatient care of children under the age of 18 (excluding normal newborn), as applicable to privileges being requested, in the last 12 months.

Successful completion of a Family Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or he Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy. Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions) Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
