West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology qualified for appointment at the Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will lead our Pediatric Cardiology Program at our expanding Children’s Heart Center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful candidate will manage the clinical duties and balance of responsibilities for all the pediatric cardiologists, lead collaboration with our cardiothoracic surgery program, head our state-wide community outreach clinic program, mentor younger faculty members on quality improvement and research efforts, and oversee the educational program for the myriad of students, residents, and other learners.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed a pediatrics residency program, as well as a pediatric cardiology fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center for the state of West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Southeastern Ohio. We have the only cardiothoracic surgery program offering surgical interventions for the full range of congenital heart defects, and ECMO program offering therapy to infants, children, and adolescents who have life-threatening lung or heart conditions, in West Virginia.
Our 150 bed Children’s Hospital has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, the only level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, 15 PICU beds, and is the mainstay for WVU Medicine Children’s Heart Center of Excellence including 8 CICU beds. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center houses a 30-bed obstetrical unit and the maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.
