Job Summary: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Major Duties:

  • The Clinical Practice Manager (CPM) will provide management and leadership of interdisciplinary patient care services within the Primary Care setting. The CPM will be responsible with the Nurse Manager for the daily operations of the assigned practice group. The incumbent will be the first-line supervisor for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants within that practice group. Each CPM will be a member of the Primary Care Clinical Board. As a member of the Clinical Board the CPM will be responsible for assigned clinical leadership duties. Bend is a city in Central Oregon and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is located to the east of the Cascade Range, on the Deschutes River. The site became known by pioneers as a fordable crossing point of the river, where it was ran through a bend. An 1870s ranch popularized the name "Farewell Bend", with the post office later distinguishing the area as Bend. It was incorporated as a city in 1905, starting off as a logging town. In 1910, Mirror Pond was created as a dammed river reservoir to provide energy. In 1950, the two major logging companies were consolidated due to depleted timber, causing an economic drop. In later decades, it experienced rapid growth as a center of recreation. Fairview is a vibrant and diverse community nestled in the picturesque Pacific Northwest. Leads process improvement activities and work to achieve patient satisfaction goals, access to care standards, and clinical performance targets. Assures that the policies, practices, and services within that group practice are consistent with the mission and vision of the Primary Care Division, the VA Portland Health Care System, the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 20 - VA Northwest Health Network, and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Central Office. Works with other divisions within the medical center to achieve compliance with internal and external regulatory and accreditation standards, such as Joint Commission and OSHA. Responsible for providing primary care services to a defined panel of patients. Practices in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to excellent clinical care. Additional Requirement: Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. At least one year of internal and/or family medicine experience; 1-3 years of previous experience supervisory/managerial experience leading/managing multidisciplinary health care professionals in a hospital or large clinic environment. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0700-1730

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
