Job Description:
Establish medical diagnosis(es) and determine a plan of care for short term health problems, stable chronic health problems and/or exacerbation of stable chronic health problems
Order and review, with supervising physician oversight, routine diagnostic studies and X-rays
Involved in pre-operative and post-operative work up and care
Assist with operative functions as delegated by the supervising physicians
Make daily rounds on all inpatients
Demonstrate basic medical knowledge of pediatric orthopedics and surgical technique
Participate in educational activities of Scottish Rite for Children such as case conferences, symposia, and professional educational meetings
Dictate, complete, and/or sign medical records, forms, and letters related to patients treated by the Nurse Practitioner in an accurate and timely manner
Participate in mortality and morbidity conferences and performance improvement activities as assigned
Requires frequent use of various and sundry surgical/clinical equipment
Physician Assistants must be a graduate of an AMA/CAHEA approved PA program and current NCCPA certification required.
Prefer at least 2 years of experience, preferably in orthopedics or sports medicine
Membership and active participation in professional organizations are beneficial
Must maintain current BLS certification, PALS preferred.
