The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a skilled medical provider on the surgical care team and is qualified both academically and clinically, to assist with a variety of procedures, and provide diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical services to patients in the outpatient, inpatient, ambulatory, trauma, and emergency settings. The Neurosurgery PA/NP is required to practice within their professional scope, license, and granted privileges based on one’s personal education, training, and experience. The Neurosurgery PA/NP works collaboratively with a variety of health care personnel, including physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach to patient care.
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational
qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited PA Program or Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One year in neurological surgery, neurology, or surgical specialty.
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
