Description:

This position evaluates and treats patients of all ages.  Develop treatment plans with involvement in family/support systems to meet the individual’s functional goals.  Provides direct supervision of support personal as related to patient care.

What you will Do:

  • Evaluates plans, directs, supervises and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs for patients with physical limitations.

  • Consults and communicates with patient, family, and other multi-disciplinary team members and service providers.

  • Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart. Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions.

  • Delegates and supervises activities of physical therapy assistants and technicians, to assure efficient use of department resources.

  • Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Physical Therapy Program.

  • Must possess/maintain license in the State of Iowa.

  • Ability to have good relationships with people while dealing with a variety of physical disabilities. Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
