Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a specialist in the planning, execution and processing of hydrographic surveys.
  • You will collaborate with other technical experts to refine department wide processes.
  • You will compile, analyze, evaluate and refine hydrographic, oceanographic, geodetic, navigational and bathymetric survey data collected by the branch.
  • You will evaluate new techniques and their potential improvement in satisfying established requirements.
  • You will conduct extensive logistic preparation for field operations and exercises including calibration and staging of equipment and liaison with participation organizations.

Qualifications: (For GS-13) In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Applicant resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience: Experience applying physical science principles to analyze data and resolve complex hydrographic problems. Experience communicating technical information, project plans, or findings to diverse audiences. Experience managing bathymetric survey data, including data organization, quality control, and metadata creation. Experience executing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures for hydrographic data products. Experience coordinating and managing hydrographic survey projects, from initial planning through execution.
