We have an opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join their team of staff in the Pathology department.
This is a part-time role for 22.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
- Perform venepuncture procedures safely and accurately in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients, using a calm and professional approach to reduce anxiety or discomfort.
- Identify patients correctly using established safety protocols and confirm tests required prior to blood draw.
- Label all specimens clearly and accurately, ensuring correct patient details and test requirements.
- Prepare, package, and transport samples in line with pathology protocols, infection prevention guidance, and safety standards.
- Complete necessary paperwork or electronic data entry accurately, ensuring traceability and compliance with data protection regulations.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Experience in Phlebotomy in a healthcare or clinical setting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Understanding of infection prevention, patient identification procedures, and specimen handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Formal training or certification in Phlebotomy (Level 2 or equivalent).
- Experience working in hospitals, GP practices, or private healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of electronic patient records or laboratory systems.
- Understanding of safeguarding and patient confidentiality standards.
