Phlebotomist
Full Time – Third Shift
BHCOR-Laboratory I Corbin, KY
Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin's patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities.
The phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collections, accessioning, labeling and transport of specimens; while optimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.
Description:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures. Responsibilities include accurately identifying patients and specimens, processing and documenting specimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and ensuring timely specimen collection and delivery.
Additional duties include communicating professionally with patients, physicians, and coworkers, maintaining patient confidentiality, supporting quality assurance initiatives, monitoring supplies, assisting with training of new staff and students, and following all hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. New employees requiring CPR should have basic life support (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
