Phlebotomist
Third Shift
Corbin, KY
Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin’s patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities.
The phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collections, accessioning, labeling and transport of specimens, while optimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.
Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using proper safety and infection control practices
Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens
Review orders to ensure correct and timely collection
Accession specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and coworkers
Follow all regulatory, safety, and confidentiality guidelines
Assist with training and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
BLS certification required (must obtain within first week if not current)
