Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a PhD - Industrial Assembly Research engineer in Manufacturing Technologies. (f/m) to join our Assembly Technology Team based in Airbus Toulouse & UTTOP laboratory (Tarbes-FR).

Your challenges:
The successful candidate will join the part of the larger Assembly Technologies Team within the Airbus Manufacturing Engineering Community. We are a highly motivated and engaged transnational team located in 10 different sites in 4 countries.
In this role you will conduct a scientific study on an already existing technology but which it is necessary to perfectly master, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external to Airbus, within the research perimeter, advising adequate means & ressources are in place to ensure mature and robust technical solutions into the industrial system.
Task & responsibilities:
Your role will mainly consist of identifying all the key parameters of the innovative drilling technology, explaining and limiting them when necessary.
To do this, you will need to:
Understand the industrial need
Conduct a state of the art review using bibliographic research
Based on laboratory tests, identify and understand all the influencing factors during the drilling of aeronautical materials (Alu, titanium, stainless steel, CFRP)
Define recommendations and limitations, cutting parameters, tool geometry, coatings, in order to guarantee robust drilling quality in an industrial environment like that of Airbus.
This role will require strong collaboration with the Engineering, the Airbus Drilling Community, the Research and Technology network and Supplier Partners, through regular communications.
Your boarding pass:

Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering and assembly processes in the aviation industry

You have the willingness & creativity to make things happen
Negotiation level in English (both written and verbal).
This role may require European travels depending upon specific projects needs.
