Overview:

Sentara is hiring a full-time Pharmacy Technician II for our Outpatient Sentara to Home Pharmacies throughout the Hampton Roads region.

**TRAVEL to ALL EIGHT SENTARA HOSPITALS throughout the Hampton Roads is REQUIRED based on greatest need**

Location: *Must be available to travel to all eight locations below based on greatest need*

Norfolk, VA: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital & Sentara Leigh Hospital

Virginia Beach, VA: Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital & Sentara Princess Anne Hospital

Suffolk, VA: Sentara Obici Hospital

Hampton, VA: Sentara Careplex Hospital

Williamsburg, VA: Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center

Elizabeth City, NC: Sentara Albemarle Medical Center

Status: Full-time 40 hours per week

Shift: Rotating 8 hr Shifts

Hours: Rotating 8:45am-5:15pm/9:45am-6:15pm/10:45am-7:15pm

Weekends: Occasional Saturdays and Sundays 9:00am-5:00pm

Holiday Rotation

Mileage to and from [roundtrip] Princess Anne Hospital to your assigned location.

Sentara To Home pharmacies are designed to help patients transition to home by assisting with medication needs before leaving the hospital. The program is designed to make the transition to home as simple and convenient as possible for patients and their families.

At Sentara To Home, medications, home medical equipment, and other healthcare needs can be provided to be prepared after discharge.

The Pharmacy Tech II Operational works the front end of the pharmacy. Duties include: data entry, filling prescriptions, working the register, and inventory.

The pharmacy tech performs care delivery and dispensing of medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

  • Participates in the training of new employees
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to pharmacy operations
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)

Experience

  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

  • Retail, outpatient pharmacy, insurance prior authorization experience (Preferred)
