Description:

Position Purpose

Support pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities. This includes maintaining Pyxis stock levels by loading and refilling medications including narcotics for all in-patients. Prepares and compounds neonatal oral liquids, and other extemporaneous products. Packages and distributes drugs and sterile products.

What You Would Do:

  • Performs general pharmacy duties by assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing duties including deliveries, checking stock levels and picking medications.

  • Answers telephones, assists nurses trouble-shooting Pyxis questions and drawer maintenance.

  • Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability and expiration dates as well as maintaining proper drug reliability in the pharmacy.

  • Maintains records of orders, processes patient charges and collects productivity statistics.

  • Participates and assists with the management of the technical staff of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a hospital-based, community college or military technician training program preferable

  • Previous experience strongly preferred; IV and compounding experience preferred

  • Current MA registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required
