A caregiver in this role supports high-volume community pharmacy operations by managing drug and supply purchasing, invoicing, and coordination with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy leadership, and supply chain partners. Responsibilities include purchasing medications and specialized supplies, including APIs and unique compounding pharmacy materials, while identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost efficiency. As the first community pharmacy buyer for this location, this role offers a unique opportunity to help build and shape purchasing operations, with a strong culture that supports long-term retention and growth within the organization.

A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Place all sourced orders for assigned vendors.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for vendors assigned and responsible for processing issues related to sourced items.
  • Organize, facilitate updates, and retain product information files and purchase order records.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations (e.g. optimize inventory, maintain critical medication supplies, etc.), decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Secure reasons for price changes and challenges price changes when not justified; insure appropriate paperwork will be secured from the vendor and updated in the respective information systems.
  • Works on resolution of invoice price discrepancies and conversions to compliant purchases.
  • Communicate status of issue to appropriate staff as required.
  • Work in concert with the sourcing teams that all updates are processed on a timely basis to facilitate an efficient procure to pay process.
  • Maintain the proper and appropriate professional and ethical relationship with vendor representatives, conducts business according to established principles and guidelines.

Minimum requirements for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, pharmacy or a related field
  • An additional four (4) years of supply chain experience or pharmacy experience specifically related to inventory control may offset the degree requirement
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Upon hire, registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 6 months
  • Minimum two years purchasing or related experience required

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Prior outpatient experience
  • Background in inventory management

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations throughout the health system to attend meetings.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
  • Must have own transportation due to travel to multiple sites.
