Job Summary

Are you passionate about making a difference in patient care? Join our dynamic pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in supporting Pharmacists in the safe and accurate dispensing of medications. Guided by the ethical standards of the College of Pharmacy in your province, you'll help ensure patients receive the care they need—on time and with compassion.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects McKesson Canada's commitment to excellence—primarily through phone and email interactions.
  • Create and maintain patient profiles using pharmacy software, including Kroll.
  • Coordinate site calendars, manage appointment changes, and oversee dispensing and shipping schedules.
  • Dispense medications with precision to ensure timely delivery to the correct destination.
  • Navigate third-party billing systems and resolve issues by liaising with adjudicators and plan administrators.
  • Process prescriptions through pharmacy software, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant—this includes accounts receivable, dosage details, third-party billing rules, appointment scheduling, clinic locations, copayment handling, and benefit coordination.
  • Schedule and dispense medications accurately to meet delivery timelines.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance and quality.
  • Build and nurture professional relationships with healthcare providers, stakeholders, clients, reimbursement coordinators, provincial ministries, and private payers.
  • Conduct patient follow-ups for outstanding accounts, refills, and shipment coordination.
  • Refer all medical inquiries to a licensed Pharmacist to ensure appropriate care.
  • Package medications securely and accurately for shipment.
  • Support inventory management, reconciliation, and other duties as assigned by Pharmacists or Supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of Secondary School Diploma.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a retail pharmacy or hospital setting.

Key Competencies

  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy setting is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with retail pharmacy operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software systems.
  • Knowledge of Kroll software is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and results-driven.
  • Comfortable taking direction and working independently.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written); multilingualism is an asset.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $36,000 - $59,600
