Schedule: Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am-6:00 pm CTS.

 

The Pharmacist Specialty is responsible to perform the duties of a licensed pharmacist. Ensures adherence to laws and regulations and maintains compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as local, state, and federal requirements as it pertains to prescriptions.

How you will make an impact:

  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security and inventory of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
  • Ensures compliance with laws governing the practice of pharmacy and distribution of drugs.
  • Engages in consultation with prescriber regarding providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Answers questions and provides information to patients on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Leads the activities of pharmacy technicians and delivery/equipment technicians.
  • Dispenses and compounds drugs.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensures quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Assists the patient delivery representative in orders, receiving, maintaining, and tracking all infusion related equipment.
  • May be required to travel to different worksites and other locations as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and a minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist in clinic and/or alternate site/home health pharmacy service; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current unrestricted Pharmacist license in applicable state(s) required. Multi-state licensure is required if this individual is providing services in multiple states.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
  • Previous experience in Specialty Pharmacy and/or Mail Order Pharmacy preferred.
