Job Summary: About the Position: This Position is located at ATAMMC, DiLorenzo Health Clinic, Ancillary Services, Pharmacy. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. The incumbent performs duties as a Pharmacist providing heath care to patients, being concerned with the effective and efficient use of pharmaceuticals to treat various diseases and conditions.

Major Duties:

  • Provides healthcare to patients, specifically being concerned with the effective and efficient use of pharmaceuticals in treating the various diseases and conditions of human patients.
  • Uses an extensive and intensive knowledge of drugs and other pharmaceuticals available, their nature, actions, and interactions.
  • Provides authoritative instructions, advice and assistance to prescribing and dispensing officials on effectiveness, suitability, hazards, appropriateness, for the intended used, economy and all other aspects of their use.
  • Serves on a variety of committees, boards, and other bodies representing the pharmacy.
  • Monitors the dispensing of all pharmaceuticals in the Military Treatment Facility and allied facilities.
  • Counsels on alternatives that will still satisfy medical needs in a situation.
  • Conducts training of students, physicians, pharmacists and other health care providers on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
  • Participates in at least one of the following advanced practice activities, i.e. medication therapy, hematology/oncology, investigational pharmacy, and integrated pharmacy.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience that includes 1) Serving as the expert on pharmaceuticals, polypharmacy, and pharmacotherapeutics. 2) Monitoring the dispensing of all pharmaceuticals within and allied facilities, and 3) Providing medication use education to patients and caregivers.
