Pharmaceutical Manufacturing GCU Operator
Position Summary
Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights)
This position is 100% on-site at the Strathroy site.
This position is located in Strathroy, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.
Reporting to the Department Supervisor, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing GCU Operator position produces Gel, Fill, and cleans equipment in Utility. The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing GCU Operator will perform activities including verifying and dispensing and compounding raw materials, cleaning of equipment and operating equipment in accordance with master production batch records, standard operating procedures and safety requirements to produce quality products ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
The Role
Verifies and dispenses raw materials using appropriate scales, completing scale logs as required.
Sets up, operates, disassembles, cleans, and assembles equipment per MBPR and SOPs. Equipment includes tanks, receivers, encapsulation and packaging parts, etc.
Manufactures gelatin according to MBPR, confirming parameters like temperature, colour, batch number, and receiver sequences.
Weighs and transports tanks/receivers to staging areas based on production schedules.
Completes all required documentation and cleaning logs accurately.
Maintains equipment and work areas; loads/unloads washers; follows safety protocols including being clean-shaven when respirator use is mandatory.
Follows safety, quality, and production procedures; communicates across shifts; escalates issues; participates in audits; trains team members; assists other departments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The Candidate
High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required, Additional education would be considered an asset.
Two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility an asset, Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Ability to work independently, as required and complete daily activities according to schedule along with working cooperatively in teams, communicating clearly and having effective listening skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills and process a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong mathematical skills, to compute simple calculations (adding, subtraction, percentages, rounding numbers, converting weights measurements).
Mechanically inclined to: disassemble and reassemble equipment parts, remove and replace equipment parts, and ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.
Ability to operate a variety of electric lifting and pushing equipment

The employee's role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, necessitating manual dexterity.
Occasionally, the position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.
