Pharmaceutical Cleaner

  • Full‑time | 24‑month contract
  • Monday to Friday | 2pm-10pm
  • Location: North Ryde (Sydney NSW) | On‑site parking and close to public transport
  • Competitive pay: From $29.03 per hour + super + shift loading, and allowances as applicable.

AstraZeneca is recruiting for a Pharmaceutical Cleaner to join our friendly and supportive team based out of our North Ryde Manufacturing Plant at Macquarie Park, North Ryde.

This role would suit an experienced hospital, hotel or aged care cleaner, or anyone used to work in a highly regulated environment.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining our high hygiene standards, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace that directly impacts the production of life-changing medicines. Reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for:
 

  • Cleaning graded and ungraded areas to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards in a pharmaceutical factory.
  • Operating powered cleaning equipment.
  • Managing waste and recycling, adhering to our sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintaining office areas, toilets and manufacturing areas.
  • Following security, incident, and accident reporting procedures.
  • Effective communicator - written and verbal
  • Commitment to completing cleaning logbooks.

Essential for the Role

  • Previous cleaning experience.
  • Physically fit, capable of handling repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, and operating equipment.
  • Ability and expertise with using computers and mobile devices.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and initiative—someone who gets on with the job and takes responsibility.
  • Resilient, team-focused and willing to learn with opportunities to advance into C Grade and Sterile Cleaning roles.

Desirable for the role

  • Previous cleaning experience in either the Pharmaceutical, Hospital, Hotel/Motel or Aged Care sectors, or any a highly regulated cleaning environment is preferred.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment such as ride-on machines, pressure washers, and chemical cleaners.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance in cleaning or a willingness to learn specific practices.

  • Onsite assessment: At our Macquarie Park site, including a role-specific assessment, a values-based interview with the hiring team, and a pre-employment medical. Allow around 2-2.5 hours.
  • Checks and references: If successful, we’ll complete background checks and request two references.
